Oregon deejays fired over Berg jokes

PORTLAND, Ore., May 14 (UPI) -- Three Oregon radio personalities were fired for ridiculing the Iraq beheading of U.S. contractor Nick Berg, Portland's KATU-TV reported Friday.

KNRK, 94.7 FM, issued an apology to its listeners after talk show hosts Marconi, Tiny and sidekick Nickie J. repeatedly played and laughed at an audio recording of Berg's gruesome slaughter at the hands ot terrorists in Iraq.

KNRK and Entercom issued an on-air apology, stating: "The actions of the KNRK News Morning Show were insensitive, inappropriate and repulsive. On behalf of Entercom Portland and KNRK, I apologize to our listeners."

However, listeners like Blaine Dohman said they were still angry.

"I'm dismayed and just flabbergasted," said Dohman. "Number 1, to be put on the air, and two, not be put in check by the powers that be."
