Oasis frontman starts new supergroup

LONDON, May 3 (UPI) -- Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher, Stone Roses' guitarist John Squire, and Beatle George Harrison's son Dhani are working on an album together in England.

The rockers are forming a supergroup and plan to start recording later this year for the album, which they'd like to see released next Christmas, Britain's The Sun newspaper reported Monday.

The trio is also reportedly looking for other big-name artists to join them.

Gallagher will take lead vocals, with Harrison and Squire on guitars, the newspaper said.

"Liam is an ambitious lad and thinks the music scene needs an injection of something exciting. He knows Dhani and John and has huge respect for their talents," a friend told the publication. "They have discussed getting together for a one-off album and are now interested in getting other big names involved."
