LONDON, April 23 (UPI) -- The British company using Eminemmobile.com as a Web address has been ordered to surrender the domain name to rapper Eminem within 10 days.
The U.S. singer filed a complaint after learning the company was using his name and was selling telephone ringtones that sound like two of his songs without permission, the BBC reported Friday.
Despite its name and the fact it sells ringtones that sound like Eminem's "Slim Shady" and "Stan," the company put a disclaimer on its site stating it is unofficial and not connected to the rapper.
The decision to order the company to give Eminem back the domain was made by the United Nation's World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO.)
A WIPO arbitrator found Tim McIntosh and Visitair had no legitimate rights to the domain name, which will transfer back to the rapper within 10 days unless the company decides to appeal against the ruling.
Eminem is the first rap star to use WIPO in settling a dispute over a domain name.
