Malick, who co-wrote the script for "Che" with Del Toro, left the project to work with Colin Farrell on "The New World," reported the World Entertainment News Network.

Soderbergh is now negotiating to keep Del Toro's supporting cast members: Ryan Gosling, Benjamin Bratt and Javier Bardem on the project, which is expected to start filming this summer.
