MTV Films produces movie with hip hop

LOS ANGELES, April 3 (UPI) -- MTV Films Vice President David Gale has said the network's film division will produce a TV film on custom car shops featuring hip hop music.

"We know that the car tuner trend is incredibly popular with the MTV audience," Gale said in a statement Friday. "No one has done a film set in this world to date, and I'm confident that the team we've put together will capture the vibe perfectly."

Andre Harrell and Michael Rapaport will produce the movie, while Kim Watson and Alonzo Brown are writing the script.

The movie will be performed by an ensemble cast, but it will also feature cameos by popular artists. Hip hop music will be heavily infused and integrated throughout the project.

"We're excited to be doing this project with MTV Films," said Brown. "They truly get this world and have a knack for tapping into contemporary culture."
