Open casting call for 'Monty Python' pic

LOS ANGELES, March 5 (UPI) -- The producers of a Graham Chapman biography are seeking six men to play the late Chapman and his fellow Monty Python troupe members.

Hippofilms plans to hold open auditions in Hollywood on March 20 for actors wishing to play younger versions of the irreverent Monty Python comedians in the upcoming film "Gin and Tonic," Zap2it.com reported Friday.

In addition to hiring someone to play Chapman, Hippofilms will cast the roles of John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin.

All performances will be recorded and absurd costumes are encouraged, the Web site said.

"Tonic" will cover Chapman's early days studying medicine at Cambridge, his time with the Python gang, his struggles with alcohol, his ground-breaking stance on homosexuality and his outrageous exploits.
