Wesley Snipes wanted for paternity test

NEW YORK, March 1 (UPI) -- Hollywood actor Wesley Snipes has twice failed to submit to a paternity test in a lawsuit brought by a former Chicago prostitute, it was reported Monday.

Lanise Pettis, a former cocaine addict and prostitute, claimed her 3-year-old son, Israel Pettis, was conceived in 2000 when she had sex with Snipes in a Chicago crack house, the New York Post reported Monday in an exclusive interview with Pettis.

"I don't think he might be the father because he's refused the test," Pettis, 32, said. "It's because he and I had sexual activity."

Pettis said she does not understand why Snipes has not complied with the order for the paternity test.

"I would have thought that anyone who has denied it to the hilt would have done anything to clear his name," she said.

A New York City judge issued a warrant and set bail at $250,000 on July 25. Sources said police would not actively pursue Snipes since the order is a bench warrant in a civil case.
