NEW YORK, Feb. 20 (UPI) -- "Dirty Dancing Havana Nights" star Romola Garai told UPI she is a huge fan of the original 1987 "Dirty Dancing" movie -- and its star Patrick Swayze.
"We had it on video at home when I was a kid and we watched it all the time when I was growing up," Garai said in a recent interview. "I have three sisters at home, so a family full of girls, it's a big deal."
Although both "Dirty Dancing" films are coming-of-age-through-dance-and-romance stories, the new film has a completely different cast than the first, except for a brief cameo by Swayze as a hotel dance instructor.
Asked what it was like to dance with Swayze, the older man who swept teenage Baby (Jennifer Grey) off her feet in the original movie, Garai laughed, "It was pretty weird."
"It was like a very strange dream where you wake up and go: 'Guess what? I was in "Dirty Dancing." I was Baby.' And they look at you oddly," she said. "No, but that's exactly what it was like and he looked exactly the same as he did in the original film, which was even more bizarre, but he's an amazing dancer. It was really nice."
