Tennesse Williams fest for Kennedy Center

WASHINGTON, Feb. 9 (UPI) -- An upcoming Center production of "A Streetcar Named Desire" casts Brian F. O'Bryne, Adam Rothenberg and Amy Ryan in key roles of the Washington production.

"Streetcar" is part of a spring festival of plays by Tennessee Williams, others include "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof," featuring Dana Ivey as Big Mama, and "The Glass Menagerie" with Sally Field playing Amanda Wingfield, reports Daily Variety.

Patricia Clarkson will play Blanche DuBois in "Streetcar," which will be staged by Garry Hynes.

O'Bryne, who plays Mitch, worked with Hynes in plays including "The Lonesome West," "The Beauty Queen of Leenane" and "A Skull in Connemara." Credits for Rothenberg, who plans Stanley, include "Antigone," "Dracula," "The Sure Thing," "The Lobster Boy," "Seascape With Sharks and Dancer" and "Specter."

Ryan, who plays Stella, comes from the HBO series, "The Wire." She was last seen at the Kennedy Center in 1991 during the national tour of "The Heidi Chronicles."
