Trump's 'Apprentice' gets second season

NEW YORK, Feb. 7 (UPI) -- NBC-TV has decided not to fire Donald Trump but to renew the ruthless business-minded reality New York City-based series, "The Apprentice."

The peacock network is renewing Trump's contract for a second season to search for yet another junior executive to join his team, E!Online reported.

In fact, Trump may never have to call an executive headhunter again, because NBC network chief Jeff Zucker hinted NBC could be in business with Trump and show's executive producer Mark Burnett for "many years to come."

Similar in format to Burnett's "Survivor" series on CBS, a cattle call for applicants yields 16 people who instead of vying for $1 million in some remote locale, compete in New York City for a year long contract as president of one of Trump's divisions at $250,000 a year.

Instead of a tribal council voting on who to banish from the competition, Trump, as tribal chieftain, fires one of the competitors each week from his boardroom in Trump Tower.
