'Project Greenlight' seeks horror film

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 5 (UPI) -- "Project Greenlight" has called for all horror or thriller screenwriters to submit their works for the next season of the reality series.

Aspiring filmmakers can begin sending entries to the show's producers Feb. 9 to have their scripts considered for the third season of "Project Greenlight," Zap2it.com reported Thursday.

Directors are asked to submit an original short or scene no longer than three minutes, covering any subject matter except ilegal or pornographic topics. The slant toward horror or thriller screenplays occurs after coming-of-age stories won the last two contests.

LivePlanet principals Ben Affleck, Matt Damon and Chris Moore, along with a group of Miramax executives, will select a writer and director by mid-year, with production on the winning film starting in late summer or fall.

The third season of "Project Greenlight" is scheduled to leave HBO, where it has aired for two years, for Bravo in early 2005.

Complete rules for the contest, whose submission deadline is Feb. 28, are at ProjectGreenlight.com.
