Krall, Peterson headline silver jazzfest

MONTREAL, Jan. 30 (UPI) -- Canadian Diana Krall will open this summer's 25th anniversary of the Montreal International Jazz Festival with a June 29 concert.

The singer-pianist will be teaming with many special guests, United Press International reported.

Don't be surprised if one of those guest performers at the Bell Centre event is the newlywed Krall's husband, rock singer-composer Elvis Costello. The pair were wed in Elton John's English castle in November.

Other headliners during the festival's 10-day run include singer k.d. lang with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, guitarists Colin James and George Thorogood, Buena Vista Social Club singer Ibrahim Ferrer and singer Dianne Reeves.

Pianist Oscar Peterson's trio will close the festival on July 10 in a double billing with fellow Canadian Oliver Jones, who is coming out of retirement for this silver anniversary event.
