Ricky Gervais gets street named for him

READING, England, Jan. 29 (UPI) -- Comedian Ricky Gervais will have a street named in his honor in his hometown of Reading, Berkshire, London's Daily Mirror reported Thursday.

The street will likely in the village of Whitley, where Gervais, 41, spent his childhood.

"Ricky Gervais always talks about Reading with great humour," said John Hartley, a spokesman for the town.

The street naming is the most recent in a line of accolades for the actor who received two Golden Globe awards at Sunday's ceremony.

Gervais beat "Will & Grace" star Eric McCormack for best TV comedy actor for his characterization of David Brent, star of "The Office," which also won as best comedy.
