Courtney Love in new legal dispute

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 21 (UPI) -- Controversial rocker Courtney Love is heading back to court, being sued by a California law firm that claims she owes them $228,926 for legal work.

The firm claims she owes them money for work on her lawsuit, now settled, against her former record label, the Smoking Gun reports.

A recent account statement reveals that after having paid Cappello & McCann an initial retainer of $50,000 in February 2001, she ran up a six-figure bill in the legal fight against Universal Music Group that she has left unpaid.

It is the latest civil action Love has faced. She has previously been involved in cases brought by former employees, an ex-landlord, and a Hawaiian spa, as well as widely reported drug charges.

She looks set to battle with Catherine Zeta Jones for the title of favorite litigation queen of the Left Coast.
