WACO, Texas, Jan. 14 (UPI) -- Rocker Ted Nugent was recovering Wednesday from a chainsaw gash suffered on the set of his reality TV show "Surviving Ted Nugent: The Ted Commandments."

MTV reported Nugent was felling a tree Sunday for a contestant on the reality show to sit on, when the tree started to fall in an unexpected direction. A spokesman for Nugent told MTV the rock star stopped branches from hitting the contestant in the face and let go of the chainsaw, which grazed his leg.

Nugent, 55, was taken by ambulance to a hospital near Waco, where he received stitches and had a brace placed on his leg. According to MTV, Nugent sustained a similar injury about 10 years ago.

Filming on "Surviving Nugent: The Ted Commandments" is scheduled to wrap next week. The show premiered on VH1 in October. Its six weekly episodes are scheduled to air this spring.

Nugent is scheduled to tour this summer and MTV said plans are being considered for a reunion of Damn Yankees -- the band Nugent put together in the 1980s with Styx guitarist/singer Tommy Shaw and Night Ranger bassist/vocalist Jack Blades -- with Styx and Night Ranger opening the shows.
