'Ocean's 11' cast cheaper by the dozen

NEW YORK, Dec. 29 (UPI) -- George Clooney told reporters in New York City that the high-paid cast of the eagerly awaited "Ocean's Eleven" sequel took pay cuts to do the film.

"We all sat in a room and said: 'Look, let's do it for 5 percent less. And then we can be able to say we're there because we want to be there,'" Clooney said. "Because that's truly why we're there. So, we all just went: 'Okay. Let's do it that way.' It's fine. You know, we had fun doing the last one. And we made good money. So, if it works, it works. And if it doesn't, we get to make a movie again together."

A re-make of the 1960 Rat Pack heist movie of the same name, "Ocean's Eleven" was a huge hit in 2001, thanks mainly to Oscar-winning filmmaker Steven Soderbergh's rare ability to unite a number of Hollywood's hottest -- and most expensive -- stars in one picture. Aside from Clooney, the comedy starred Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Matt Damon, Bernie Mac, Don Cheadle, Casey Affleck and Scott Caan.

"We start (filming 'Ocean's Twelve') March 1," Clooney said. "We're shooting a little bit in Paris and Amsterdam, and then in Rome for a while. We're going to have a good time. And we got everybody. Everybody came back."

"Ocean's Twelve" is slated for release next winter.
