McGregor plans cross-continent trip

NEW YORK, Dec. 22 (UPI) -- Actor Ewan McGregor says he and best friend Charley Boorman will embark on a treacherous three-month motorbike journey through Europe and Asia this spring.

"Yes, we take off in April," the "Big Fish" star told reporters in New York recently. "It is a trip we wanted to do for many years and it seemed like if we don't do it now, we will never do it. We are crossing Europe and Kazakhstan and Russia and Mongolia and China and then around to Alaska. There is just me and Charley and we will meet a camera crew every couple of weeks."

Asked if he worries about problems they might encounter on the road, the 32-year-old Scot reasoned, "There are a lot of 'what-ifs' in life and I think that 'what-if' stops you doing stuff.

"I am excited about driving across Mongolia and setting up a tent somewhere and finding people who live a different life than we do and I am fascinated about finding out about their lives," he explained. "I am more fascinated about that than I am worried about any threats to me."
