Hunt pleased with success of 'Bonnie'

NEW YORK, Dec. 22 (UPI) -- Hilarious blonde beauty Bonnie Hunt starred in five short-lived U.S. television series before finally finding success with the ABC sit-com "Life With Bonnie."

"Five series, they've all been canceled," notes the actress who earned a Golden Globe nomination for her portrayal of a local TV talk-show hostess last week.

"I feel really lucky to have a second season. But you know what? I direct all the episodes, I write them all with Don Lake. We're putting on a show. We're doing television in such an efficient, creatively respectful way.

"It's tough to do television because, for 20 minutes, you're competing with commercials and you've got to bring them back and you're dealing with the show that leads into you and the one that comes after you and you have to deal with the mentality of television, so there is always a creative struggle. We want to maintain our integrity.

"As far as the show goes, I'm really proud of it. I think we are really doing something different."

Hunt can also be seen later this week in the family film "Cheaper By the Dozen."
