A Danish jazz tour or a jazz Danish tour?

BOSTON, Dec. 3 (UPI) -- Danish saxophonist John Tchicai returns to New England this month to tour with a trio featuring saxophonist Charlie Kohlhase and guitarist Garrison Fewell.

Tchicai is best known for his 1960s free jazz collaborations with musicians Albert Ayler and John Coltrane,

Tchicai has collaborated with Kohlhase on the Grammy-nominated Either/Orchestra's "Across the Omniverse" and a Tchicai-Kohlhase quintet recording called "Life Overflowing." Tchicai and Fewell have performed together in Europe and have a co-led quintet release in the works.

The four concerts will feature original music by all three musicians. They will perform Dec. 10 at the Berklee College of Music in Boston; Dec. 11 at Studio AG at the Wentworth/Dennett School in Kittery, Maine; Dec. 12 at the Artists-At-Large Gallery in Boston's Hyde Park neighborhood; and Dec. 13 at the Unitarian Meetinghouse in Amherst, Mass.
