Ricky Martin was named Favorite Latin star, The Isley Brothers won Favorite R&B Group and Favorite Rap/Hip-hop Group went to Lil' John and the East Side Boyz.

Tim McGraw was named top Country Male Artist while the Female honors went to his wife, Faith Hill.

Hip-Hop star Missy Elliot missed the announcement of her award for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist. She was later brought to the stage by host Jimmy Kimmel and sheepishly explained "Somebody stole my limo (from the hotel)." Kimmel got an enthusiastic response when he asked if anyone in the audience could give Elliot a ride home.
