LONDON, Oct. 24 (UPI) -- "Blind Flight," called the unluckiest film in recent British history, finally has had its premiere after repeated grounding on a tricky 13-year journey.
The movie, which will have its general release after the first of the year, is based on the friendship Brian Keenan and John McCarthy forged when they were held as hostages in Beirut in 1986. Its trials and tribulations mirror its story of remarkable resilience, the London Guardian said.
The low-budget film stars Ian Hart as the Belfast teacher kidnapped by Islamic extremists in 1986 and Linus Roache as the English journalist who also was seized after being sent to cover the disappearance.
It was due to start filming in Lebanon last Christmas, but the government decided not to let them shoot there. Then, it was on to Tunisia, then, eventually, Belfast.
