NEW YORK, Oct. 17 (UPI) -- The final showcase line-up for the CMJ Music Marathon 2003 will feature performances by more than 900 bands at more than 50 venues Oct. 22-25.
Adam Green, The Blood Brothers, Death Cab For Cutie, Echo and The Bunnymen, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Killing Joke, Lake Trout, Love w/ Arthur Lee, The Mars Volta, My Morning Jacket, Project Logic, The Rapture, Shonen Knife, Starlite Desperation, Superchunk, Trachtenburg Family Slideshow and the Waco Brothers are among the showcase acts. More than 60 labels will present their artists.
In addition to the nightly showcases, CMJ will host the Day Stage at the New York Hilton Hotel with exclusive performances by Turin Brakes and Portastatic.
CMJ will also host the DIY Convention: Do It Yourself in Film, Music and Books Oct. 24-25.
A full day of panels, workshops and speeches on creating, promoting, protecting and distributing independent film, music and books will take place at the New York Hilton on Sat. Oct. 25.
Highlighting the day will be a keynote address by socio-political activist/former MC5 guitarist/actor and recording artist Wayne Kramer.
