Pavarotti plans to retire, teach

LONDON, Oct. 7 (UPI) -- Famed tenor Luciano Pavarotti says he plans to teach once he retires -- going back to the profession he practiced before taking to the opera stage.

Pavarotti, 67, says he wants to give something "to the younger generation" and he's looking forward to the challenge. He does not plan to charge for his expertise, he told reporters in London.

"Teaching, I think is the most difficult thing; teaching is more difficult than singing," he said as he launched his first pop album, "Ti Adoro," in his 40-year opera career.

Pavarotti was scheduled to perform Tuesday at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
