Hollywood Walk of Fame adds Kevin Bacon

HOLLYWOOD, Sept. 28 (UPI) -- Actor, singer Kevin Bacon will be honored Sept. 30 with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame between those of June Lockhart and Mala Powers.

His starring roles coupled with powerful supporting characters has allowed Bacon to build a varied and critically acclaimed body of work, according to the Hollywood Walk of Fame Committee.

He stars with with Meg Ryan and Mark Ruffalo in "In the Cut," which will be released in September.

Bacon also stars with Sean Penn, Tim Robbins and Laura Linney, in "Mystic River," which Warner Bros. will release nationwide on Oct. 15.

Bacon's film credits include: "Diner," "Footloose," "She's Having a Baby," "Criminal Law," "The Big Picture," "Wild Things," "Digging in China," "Telling Lies in America," "Picture Perfect," "JFK," "A Few Good Men," "Sleepers," "Apollo 13" and "Murder in the First."

In 1996, he directed his first film, "Losing Chase," featuring his wife, actress Kyra Sedgwick, Beau Bridges, and Helen Mirren.

With his older, musician brother Michael, Bacon is the other half of "The Bacon Brothers," a successful band.
