Yoko Ono and others plan tribute album

NEW YORK, Sept. 6 (UPI) -- Yoko Ono and others are attempting to raise $300,000 for a new high school in New York City for gay students.

Also participating in the album are: Cyndi Lauper & The Minus 5, Frank Black, Rufus Wainwright, Sleater-Kinney, Fred Schneider of the B52s, Bob Mould of Husker Du, They Might Be Giants, The Breeders, Jonathan Richman, and actor-director John Cameron Mitchell of "Hedwig and the Angry Inch."

The musicians will be singing songs from the soundtrack to the film "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" to support the Harvey Milk High School, set to open Monday.

Mitchell, chief organizer of the album, told the New York Post that the performers hope to raise the funds for the Hetrick Martin Institute, which manages the Harvey Milk school in partnership with the New York City Department of Education.
