Stella McCartney weds amid tight security

ROTHSAY, Scotland, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Fashion designer Stella McCartney is believed to have wed her beau, publisher Alasdhair Willis, amid tight security on Bute Saturday.

Although official spokesmen for the family of Stella and her famous father, Paul McCartney, denied a wedding took place, dozens of celebrities were transported to the island, the BBC reported.

Among those spied enroute to the gothic chapel included Kate Moss, Chrissie Hynde, Pierce Brosnan and Coldplay's Chris Martin, as well as Sir Paul and his wife, Heather Heather Mills-McCartney.

The chapel is part of an estate owned by former Formula 1 racing driver Johnny Dumfries, the BBC said. The estate known as Mount Stuart includes 300 acres of landscaped gardens.

There were security guards surrounding the grounds and cars with blackened windows seen coming and leaving Saturday, the BBC said.

It was Scotland's biggest celebrity wedding since the 2000 marriage of Madonna and Guy Ritchie.
