Spike TV signs on Spike & Mike

NEW YORK, Aug. 20 (UPI) -- Spike TV will turn to a fellow Spike to supply the latest addition to its late-night animation block.

The cable channel for men has given the green light to a series compiled from cartoon shorts showcased at the Spike & Mike Sick & Twisted Festival of Animation, a traveling underground tour that exhibited early iterations of "South Park" and "Beavis and Butt-head."

The Hollywood Reporter said Wednesday six episodes of the series will begin airing in late fall as part of the Strip, the Spike TV block that features animated series like "Stripperella."

"We've always had a cult following," festival co-founder Spike Decker said. "This is the first time we can bring animation to the masses beyond the theaters."
