Wyle inks 'ER' extension

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 14 (UPI) -- Noah Wyle will make his directorial debut during "ER's" 2004-05 season.

The Hollywood Reporter says Wyle inked a one-year extension of his deal, taking him through the show's 11th season.

The deal calls for him to direct two episodes of the medical drama, of which he is a charter member and the only original cast member remaining from the show's debut in 1994.

Wyle will miss a few episodes at the start of the fall season.
