LOS ANGELES, Aug. 14 (UPI) -- HBO has decided against going ahead with the Steven Bochco-Alison Cross drama, "Marriage."
The program was supposed to take place entirely in a New York couple's bedroom.
The decision came after Bochco finished producing the pilot episode. HBO executives decided after seeing the pilot and reviewing a second script, the setting was not conducive to a continuing series.
"They made a very good pilot but we had serious reservations about whether it could be sustained as a series," an HBO spokeswoman told Daily Variety.
Bochco said though he doesn't agree with the HBO decision, he does understand executives' concerns.
"You can't force people to air something they don't believe in nor would you want to even if you could," Bochco said. "You want a supportive partner. It is 'Marriage,' after all."
Bochco said he considered reworking the concept so that it took place in other locations as well, but decided against doing so.
