Fox scores 'Momma 2'

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 11 (UPI) -- After three years of hoping for another whack at "Momma," Fox and Regency have gotten their wish.

Daily Variety reports Martin Lawrence is attached to reprise his role as the DDD-cupped undercover matriarch in a follow-up to "Big Momma's House" to be penned by sequel-master Don Rhymer.

Rhymer co-wrote the original picture, which grossed just shy of $170 million worldwide in 2000.

The deal marks the fourth sequel for Rhymer in the last year: He's penned star Tim Allen's "Santa Clause 2" for Disney, wrote "Jumanji 2," which is currently filming for Columbia TriStar, and "Agent Cody Banks 2," which he scripted and just just wrapped at MGM.

"Momma 2" is being produced by David Friendly and Firm Films, while Kara Francis, Regency Enterprises senior vice president, and Fox's Hutch Parker are overseeing its development and production.
