British director may do next "Harry" pic

LOS ANGELES, July 25 (UPI) -- Warner Brothers Pictures and director Mike Newell may team on the fourth installment of Warner's Harry Potter series, "Harry Potter and Goblet of Fire."

Although Newell has not yet seen a script or even met with studio executives about the project, both sides are eager to work together on "Goblet," the Hollywood Reporter said Friday.

Should a deal be reached, Newell would be the first British director to work on the series, based on author J.K. Rowling's books. American Chris Columbus directed the first two and Mexican Alfonso Cuaron did the upcoming "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban."
