SAN DIEGO, July 20 (UPI) -- Activated from the disabled list prior to the game, Randy Johnson was outdueled by Kevin Jarvis Sunday as San Diego posted a 3-2 victory over Arizona.

Making his first start since April 28 after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his left knee, Johnson (1-3) pitched well, allowing two runs and six hits in six innings. The reigning four-time National League Cy Young Award winner walked two and struck out six.

But thanks to Jarvis (3-2), who won his third straight start, Johnson fell to 11-2 lifetime against San Diego. In 7 1/3

innings, Jarvis gave up two runs and three hits in his second straight win over Arizona.

Mike Matthews and Jesse Orosco got the final two outs in the eighth before Rod Beck worked a 1-2-3 ninth for his 10th save in as many chances.
