LOS ANGELES, July 7 (UPI) -- "Dallas," a Friday night fixture on CBS for 13 seasons, will take up residence as a daily sudser on SoapNet.
The acquisition is the third for the cable channel in less than a year, advancing its effort to air non-ABC soaps. Earlier, SoapNet acquired "Dynasty" and "Another World."
"For us, it's a very large acquisition. 'Dallas' is the emblematic soap," SoapNet general manager Deborah Blackwell told Daily Variety. "It not only broadens and enriches our offerings, but it's something our viewers have been asking for since day one."
SoapNet is the No. 6 basic cable channel in the 18-49 demographic.
"Dallas" starred Larry Hagman, Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray and Victoria Principal when it debuted in 1978. The saga of the oil-rich Ewing family gained the most notoriety for its "Who Shot J.R." cliffhanger at the end of the second season.
