Stone considering 'Practice' role

LOS ANGELES, June 18 (UPI) -- David E. Kelley is talking to Sharon Stone about appearing in a handful of episodes of "The Practice."

In the aftermath of last month's cast reshuffle on the ABC skein, there had been speculation Stone was in talks to join the show's cast as a replacement for Dylan McDermott, Daily Variety reported. While that now seems a long shot, industry insiders confirm Kelley has indeed approached Stone about a three-episode guest arc and the actress is considering the offer.

It's unclear when Stone's arc might air but it seems logical to have Stone show up during the early part of the season to breathe new life into the show, which was damaged when ABC moved it to Mondays earlier this spring.

Also uncertain: Whether the guest arc could turn into a recurring role on "The Practice," which is produced by David E. Kelley Productions and 20th Century Fox TV. It's not uncommon for film stars to test the TV waters by first making guest appearances before plunging into a permanent gig.

Reps for 20th Century and ABC declined comment, while a Kelley spokeswoman was unavailable.
