Wood Group lands LNG deal in Trinidad and Tobago

A consortium led by Scottish oil and gas company Wood Group said Wednesday it secured a construction contract for a large-scale LNG facility in Trinidad.

Neal & Massy Wood Group, a consortium led by Neal & Massy Holdings Ltd. and Wood Group, said the contract calls for construction at Point Fortin on the southwest coast of Trinidad.

The multi-million dollar, two-year contract calls for construction services to Atlantic LNG Co. of Trinidad and Tobago, the largest liquefied natural gas producer in the Western Hemisphere.

"We will be engaging Trinidad’s multifaceted construction supply chain, underpinned by our unique processes and project management expertise, to deliver best-in-class construction services," Vaughn Martin, manager director of the consortium, said in a statement.

Atlantic LNG Co. is the largest contributor to Trinidad and Tobago's export market, representing more than half of the country's refining sector. Its LNG facility produces an average 15 million tons of LNG per year.

Trinidad and Tobago is the largest oil and natural gas producer in the region and the single largest LNG exporter to the U.S. market.
