Gulf Oil re-enters Virginia petrol market

GALAX, Va., April 20 (UPI) -- Retail petrol company Gulf Oil announced it is rebranding several Chevron outlets in Virginia, returning to the state for the first time since 1986.

Gulf Oil said it reached a distributor partnership with retailer Milo C. Cockerham, Inc. in a return to southwestern Virginia.

Ron Sabia, president and chief operating officer at Gulf Oil, said returning to Virginia, with its estimated 5 million drivers, made smart business sense.

"Our entrance into Virginia underscores our long-term commitment to support the Mid-Atlantic market," he said.

Gulf Oil trumpets itself as one of the largest wholesalers of petroleum products in the northeastern United States. It distributes gasoline through 12 oil terminals and through a network of more than 70 other supply terminals.

"(O)perating in Virginia is another important element that strengthens our reputation as a premium gasoline retailer nationwide," added Sabia.
