TNK-BP officials said the fire raged for less than two hours. There were no injuries or significant damage to the facility.

The company, in a statement, said it would enact several technical measures to improve the safety at the Saratov refinery following the "ignition incident."

Leonid Rozenberg, the vice president of refining operations at TNK-BP, said repairs to the facility took less than two days.

"The company continued to honor its contractual supply obligations despite the temporary capacity decline," the company added.

The refinery was built in 1934. TNK-BP is the third largest oil company in Russia.
