TEHRAN, Feb. 7 (UPI) -- The National Iranian South Oil Co. is developing gas fields to supply gas required for injection into oil reserves, Managing Director Seifollah Jashnsaz said.
The Karun Bangestan, Paznan Khami, Bibi Hakimeh Khami and Marun Khami fields will be developed in an attempt to produce 700 million cubic feet of light gas per day, the Tehran Times reported.
"To process the produce gas, five gas and liquefied gas plants will be constructed in Masjed Soleiman, Paznan, Bibi Hakimeh, and Marun and two separation refineries and transmission pipelines will be built in the region," Jashnsaz said. "In addition to light gas, the plants will produce ethane, propane, butane, natural gasoline, and oil whose value, excluding the worth of light gas, will surpass $1.5 billion per annum."
The comments were reported by the newspaper.
The new fields are expected to become operational by next March, he said.
Paranj field could produce 5,000 barrels per day, Khaviz field could produce 3,000 barrels per day and Mansurabad could generate 6,000 barrels per day.
