Ukraine hosts security conference

KHARKIV, Ukraine, Feb. 3 (UPI) -- The Ukrainian Defense Ministry Tuesday hosted top defense experts for a conference addressing security concerns in Europe and the Euro-Atlantic region.

The two-day conference is being held at Kharkiv University in Ukraine. Top security authorities from the United States, the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, along with experts from the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies, are among those attending the conference, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense reported.

Officials say issues concerning Euro-Atlantic and European safety are expected to play a central role during the conference. Additionally the conference features the "holding of expert discussions concerning (the) current state of the NATO activity, (the) role of Ukraine in the safety of (the) Euro-Atlantic region as well as prospects of cooperation of Ukraine with the North Atlantic Alliance," the release said.
