JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia, Dec. 17 (UPI) -- In an effort to increase cooperation in the fight against terrorism, Saudi Arabia and Jordan have agreed to demarcate their marine border.
Saudi Arabia Interior Minister Prince Naif and his Jordanian counterpart Eid Al-Fayez signed the agreement to demarcate their marine border in the Gulf of Aqaba at the Conference Palace in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Arab News reported.
"Our relations are a model for sincere brotherly ties," Naif said during the ceremony. "The marine border agreement, which we signed today, came as a result of cooperation and mutual understanding between the two countries."
Naif cited concerns about growing terrorist threats in the Middle East and that greater coordination and cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Jordan is an effort to eradicate terrorism.
The last land-border agreement signed by Jordan and Saudi Arabia was in 1965.
