Dec. 9 (UPI) -- Kenyan Drake caught a lateral and sprinted 52 yards for a last second touchdown, helping the Miami Dolphins beat the New England Patriots on Sunday in Miami.

Drake's Dolphins teammates mobbed the running back in the back of the end zone after the game-winning score. The clock read 0:00 during the celebration, with the Dolphins winning 34-33.

Miami had a 1st-and-10 on its own 31-yard-line during the sequence. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill took the snap with seven seconds on the clock and his team trailing 33-28. Tannehill dropped back in the pocket and fired a pass to Kenny Stills at the 45-yard-line. Stills wiggled around Patriots defenders before tossing a lateral to Devante Parker.

Parker jogged to his right and found Drake with another toss near midfield. Drake sprinted down the right flank and broke a tackle, before cutting inside. He used a few blocks to break free near the Patriots' 30-yard-line, where he found a ton of open space.

Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski was in defending on the play, but he could not handle Drake's speed as the running back turned him around at the 15-yard line and beat him to the end zone.

Drake had 24 yards on six carries in addition to his 55-yard touchdown reception in the victory.

"There was a lot of excitement [in the locker room]," Dolphins coach Adam Gase said. "Those guys are fired up. They did a great job the whole game just sticking together. Things don't always go your way with the ups and downs of the game. Those guys keep fighting."

The Dolphins face the Minnesota Vikings at 1 p.m. on Sunday at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
