New mobile surveillance system for Egypt

Pentagon officials on Friday announced a $64 million contract for Egypt border security through Advanced Technology Systems Co., out of McLean, Va.

Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Defense Department officials on Friday announced a $64 million firm-fixed-price, cost reimbursable, and time-and-materials contract for Egypt border security through Advanced Technology Systems Co., out of McLean, Va.

Work on the contract will be performed at STARA Technologies Corps., in Arizona, and will provide the Arab Republic of Egypt with a mobile surveillance sensor security system to support the Egyptian Board Guard mission of securing Egypt's national borders from international terrorist organizations that may travel into the region from Iraq, Sudan, Libya or Chad.

Advanced Technology, and it's subsidiary, STARA, make several mobile surveillance systems that allow for ease of movement and autonomous power generation, and can operate independently or be networked offering flexibility for users.

The new mobile surveillance system is expected to be completed by Aug. 20, 2019, with $63.6 million being obligated at the time of the award.
