Lockheed Martin to enhance C-5 communications system

The Department of Defense has awarded a $14.7 million contract to enhance the automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast out system for the C-5 transport aircraft.

Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Pentagon officials announced Friday that Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Co., has been awarded $14.7 million to enhance the automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast out system, among other parts of the communications system on the C-5.

The cost-plus-incentive-fee contract is for the C-5 communications, navigation, surveillance and air traffic management engineering and manufacturing developments programs, the Department of Defense announced last week.

The work will be performed in Marietta, Ga., and is expected to be completed by Sept. 25, 2019.

Fiscal 2017 research and development funds in the amount of more than $5.2 million have been obligated at the time of award.
