Oshkosh receives $466.8M contract for armored tactical trucks

Oshkosh Defense has received a $466.8 million modification to an existing contract for the production of the Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles for the U.S. Army.

Sept. 21 (UPI) -- Oshkosh Defense has received a $466.8 million modification to an existing contract for the production of the Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles for the U.S. Army.

The procurement, announced Wednesday by the Department of Defense, will be determined by individual orders and is expected to be finished by Aug. 25, 2018. It will be for vehicles designed under the A1P2 technical data package.

The Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles is a series of armored tactical cargo trucks. Variants of the platform are used for troop and equipment transport, vehicle recovery and other tasks in a utility role.

The cabs of the trucks are fully armored with bullet and shrapnel resistant plates, and ballistic glass for the windshield and windows for crew protection.

The A1P2 variant of the FMTV is the standard cargo version of the truck for moving equipment and supplies.
