"This order confirms Saab´s strong position as a supplier of world-class airborne self-protection systems, which improves the customer's operational capabilities," said Anders Carp, head of Saab's Surveillance business area, in a company news release Friday.

Saab did not disclose the contract's cost. However, Saab said in the release that its South African subsidiary will produce the systems this year and next. The company scheduled the system's deliveries for 2020.

The suite is currently used on a number of aerial platforms, including the Saab 2000, Agusta-Westland A109, Super Lynx 300, Boeing CH-47 Chinook, Denel Rooivalk and Oryx, Eurocopter Cougar, Puma and Super Puma, NH Industries NH90, C-130 and L100 Hercules and Sukhoi Su-30MKM.
