Canadian Commercial Corp. receives contract for naval optics

April 28 (UPI) -- The Department of Defense announced Thursday that the Canadian Commercial Corp. has received a contract for $49.5 million to procure the Military Sealift Command Situational Awareness System Electro-Optics Sensor system, which will be used for vessels in both the U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard.

The MSC-EOS is designed to provide night vision, advanced optics, coastal observation, friend-or-foe identification and navigational assistance to ships for the Military Sealift Command of the Navy and the Coast Guard.

Canadian Commercial was one of two offers that competed for the contract under the rules of the Federal Business Opportunities commission, with $281,000 of initial funding obligated for Fiscal 2017 and expiring at the end of the current fiscal year.

The work will be performed in Burlington, Ontario, in Canada, and is expected to be complete in April 2022.
