Jan. 24 (UPI) -- AAI Corporation, doing business as Textron Systems, has received a $9.3 million contract to perform maintenance training for the Afghan air force.
The contract was awarded by the U.S. Air Force, and also includes logistics support for 24 aircraft operated by the Afghan air force.
According to the U.S. Department of Defense, the work will be performed in Kabul, Afghanistan, and is expected to be complete by the end of January 2018.
Textron's contract was the result of a competitive acquisition with four offers received. The company received all funding for the project at the time of the contract award. The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio is listed as the contracting activity.
