Unidentified country to get artillery navigation and pointing systems

BOULOGNE-BILLANCOURT, France, Nov. 21 (UPI) -- Safran Electronics & Defense of France is to export several dozen of its Sigma 30 artillery navigation and pointing systems to an unidentified military force.

The Sigma 39, which is integrated into mobile radar systems, determines the precise location of enemy batteries when it detects their firing, providing artillery an autonomous engagement capability even when there are no GPS signals.

Safran did not give additional specifics of the contract in its contract announcement.

Safran Electronics & Defense is a leading company in optronics, avionics, electronics and critical software for both civil and defense applications.
