BAE Systems to debut Beowulf utility vehicle

ARLINGTON, Va., Sept. 2 (UPI) -- An all-terrain utility vehicle by BAE Systems is to make its North American debut this month at a National Guard Association symposium.

The vehicle is the Beowulf, an unarmored variant of the company's BvS10 combat vehicle and is designed to be the successor to the BV206s, deployed by the U.S. Army Alaska, the U.S. Marine Corps, several Army National Guard units, and numerous countries worldwide.

BAE Systems said the Beowulf can climb 45-degree slopes, swim through water, and traverse snow and soft and hard terrains even in extreme weather conditions. Its payload capacity is eight tons.

The vehicle will be shown at the National Guard Association of the United States symposium in Baltimore, Md.
