King Aerospace receives C-9B aircraft contract

Contract modifications involve engine shop visits, depot maintenance and more.

WASHINGTON, May 19 (UPI) -- King Aerospace has been awarded a $9.2 million modification to a previously awarded, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity U.S. Navy contract for C-9B Skytrain jet work.

The option involves contractor logistics services such as base site operations, depot planned maintenance interval inspections and engine shop visits.

Work will be performed in Cherry Point, N.C., with an estimated completion date of May 2017.

The Skytrain is a military version of the McDonnell Douglas DC-9-32 airliner. It is modified with upper cargo doors, the C-9 provides personnel movement to and from training sites, as well as the movement of Navy personnel to support ship deployments, according to the service.
